FAQ
About VEX VR
What is VR?
Virtual reality, often abbreviated “VR” for “Virtual Reality”, is a computer technology that gives its user the illusion of being in another world. With a server and a virtual reality headset that transmits an artificial image in real time, the person wearing the headset can move and interact with the virtual environment in which they find themselves.
It seems that VR makes you sick, is that true?
Not necessarily ! At The VEX, we largely select experiences that cannot impact the well-being of our customers. The feeling of seasickness or transport only arises when moving virtually without physically moving (eg: a roller coaster experience). This kind of activity represents less than 10% of The VEX catalog. The most sensitive activities will always be brought to your attention by our operators, if applicable.
Do you have to be a connoisseur of video games to come to The VEX?
Not at all! Our activities are accessible to anyone wishing to test VR! They are divided into different categories ranging from initiation to more complex activities, to guide your choice.
From what age can we go to The VEX?
The minimum recommended age is 8 years old. Why? Quite simply because the headset may not adapt to the heads of the little ones and the complexity of the experiences requires a certain dexterity with the joysticks that the youngest do not necessarily have. Children below this age are always welcome, but they may not fully enjoy their experience.
Please refer to attraction descriptions as age restrictions may vary.
Can I let my children play The VEX on their own?
Children under 12 must be accompanied by a responsible person. Minors over 12 years old can come alone but are under the full responsibility of their parents for the duration of the activity.
I wear glasses, do I have to take them off during the activity?
Not especially. The headsets are designed to accept a large majority of glasses. However, some larger templates do not always fit. Some people also prefer comfort over usefulness and take them away. We, therefore, recommend wearing contact lenses when possible.
Can people with epilepsy participate in the activity safely?
Generally speaking, if the person shows signs of epilepsy while playing “classic” video games, these problems will also appear with us. Keep in mind that these are two screens located 1.5 cm from the eyes, which can increase the risks. Also note that the majority of our games are played standing up, which can make the damage worse in a crisis. If people with epilepsy come to play and a seizure occurs, we cannot be held responsible for the damage, both physical and material.
Are claustrophobic people safe to participate in the activity?
People prone to claustrophobia can practice virtual reality but will have to avoid certain experiences in which the virtual universe is restricted (eg escape game, labyrinth, etc.). If a seizure occurs, it is sufficient to remove the helmet, which takes at most 5 seconds.
About Prison Island
Who are we?
Prison Island is a unique game that includes a reception, bar and 22 game cells.
It is often confused with an escape game, but it is completely different!
In an escape game, you and your team typically have 1 hour to use scenario-based reasoning. In Prison Island Ostrava there is a much larger game area with 22 cells containing 22 different tasks (physical, technical, intellectual). In addition, you can build your own course, completing and repeating tasks in the time you choose.
What does the game consist of and how does it work?
You and your team try to solve as many cells as possible within the time limit you choose.
You choose the order in which you go through the cells, and you can even repeat the tasks in the cells.
Team up to solve complex tasks in different cells. These challenges will test your problem-solving skills, teamwork and agility. In order to earn points, you must complete the challenges within a certain time frame, which varies from 1.5 to 5 minutes depending on the cell.
What is the goal?
Your goal is to collect as many points as possible!
For each successful task you can get 25 to 100 points.
You can watch your ranking live on the big screens located in the reception and in the game area!
Come and compete against the teams of the day, the teams of the week or the best teams of ALL TIMES! Be the best!
For adults and children
Prison Island is suitable for everyone.
The minimum age to enter is 7 years old. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult on their team, not only for safety reasons, but to understand the challenges and not be afraid in the very realistic environment.
Do you have to be a great athlete?
No! Prison challenges are tailored for the general public. The variety of events and the teamwork-based concept allow everyone to participate according to their abilities and wishes.
A cell that didn’t suit you?! Don’t worry, you can move on to the next one without limiting your team from scoring points!
Is Prison Island suitable for team building events or parties?
Absolutely! Prison Island is a great choice for team building activities, parties and special events. Contact us for more information on group bookings and customized experiences.
Can I come alone or do I need a group?
Adventures at Prison Island are designed for a minimum of two participants, and typically 3 to 5 people are needed for the ultimate team experience. Whether you attend as a team with a friend, family member, or other visitor, the experience requires at least two people. For an optimal adventure, consider forming a team of 3-5 participants to tackle the challenges together. Feel free to bring a partner or team up with others to form a duo or larger team for an exciting and collaborative experience.
Can you take photos in the cells?
Photography in the cells is allowed, but remember that you must have the permission of everyone in the pictures.
How time consuming is the game?
When you enter the game, you choose the length of the game. Depending on your preference, it ranges from 1 to 2 hours. Allow about 15 minutes for registration and team briefing.
How many people per team?
You can form teams of 2 to 5 players, but 3 to 4 players is best for active participation in the game.
What game time should we choose?
Prison Island Ostrava has 22 cells. You will need a considerable amount of time to go through the prison, understand and solve the tasks.
Approximately 15 cells can be solved in 1 hour.
In 1.5 hours you can manage about 20 cells (this is the average observed on several teams, it will all depend on how fast you progress).
The best package is 2 hours; you don’t have to rush the game and you can repeat the cells multiple times.
